Physical self defense - effective target areas


There are many potential body parts to target. There are three main areas which can easily cause immense pain if the assailant is struck in any of these areas. Other target areas on an assailant that can be vulnerable for counter-striking.

1. Groin
-Striking, grabbing, or pinching the groin area can be very effective.
2. Eyes
Poking, using finger pressure, or scratching the eyes (an assailant can not chase because he can see nothing at all) are excellent techniques.
3. Throat
-Striking, grabbing, or pinching the throat is also effective.



Other target areas on an assailant that can be vulnerable for counter-striking:

1. Point of the nose – pressure (push or striking with the palm of the hand)
2. Point of the chin (not much pain, but can be effective at causing discomfort)
3. Ears (striking to both ears – immense pressure are applied to the ear drum)
4. Ribs 
jabbing with thumb knuckles or some hard, pointed object
5. Knee 
pressure or striking with foot (kick) on the front (kneecap area) or side
6. Thigh 
– pinching, knee strike or striking with a pointed, hard object
