Tips on self defence


Women should have the self-esteem, self-love, self-confidence and be self-reliant in protecting themselves when violations occur. This blog will introduce how women can prevent themselves from becoming a victim or finding themselves in uncomfortable situations.

  1. Trust your instincts:   remove yourself from any uncomfortable situation.

  2.  Stay with your friends and family. Let others know your whereabouts.
  3. Use the safest and most secure ways to travel. Not dark lonely, streets.
  4. If travelling with 1 other person in an elevator, try to stand close to the alarm.
  5. Don’t let strangers into your home.
  6. Avoid being out alone and do not accept drinks and drugs from strangers.
  7. Use the word 'no' confidently and clear in uncomfortable situationsl.
  8. Learn effective self-defence and use of personal belongings (such as keys, rings, and even an umbrella or shoes) as a weapon to fight back.
  9. Remain calm and vigilant, resourceful e.g. shouting "fire" or “help”. When defending yourself, use effective, fast and accurate attack upon others weak positions (such as the eyes, ears, nose, or genitals etc.).
  10. Keep calm and remember that engaging in physical confrontation is the last resort. Running away and yelling for help is often the best option
